Nick Williams (1st Grade)

Nick grew up in San Jose, California and attended UC Santa Cruz as he earned a BA in Film and Digital Media and a minor in Education. While in college, he volunteered in dozens of elementary school classrooms as part of the Classroom Connection program at UCSC. These experiences led Nick to earn his teaching credential from Cal State East Bay as soon as he graduated from UCSC. He comes from a family of proud educators and is excited to join the Jefferson community as he enters his 13th year of teaching.

Last year, Nick earned to Masters or Arts in Teaching Leadership from St. Mary’s College of California. He conducted an action research project that investigated how service learning affected his urban students’ sense of belonging to their school and city communities. He is passionate about helping his students grow into compassionate and involved young people and values public education.

When he’s not at school he enjoys spending quality time with his two year old son, Rio and his husband, Nelson. As a family they enjoy exploring parks around the Bay Area, visiting the zoo, reading stories, and cooking. Nick is looking forward to the day when Rio will be attending Berkeley schools!
