Arun Khanna (5th grade)

Arun Khanna grew up here in Berkeley surrounded by educators and musicians.  After graduating from SF State with a degree in English, he traveled to India to work with endangered crocodiles before returning to the Bay Area to further his work with conservation.  It was while working with kids at the Oakland Zoo’s Conservation and Education Department that Arun heard the call of the classroom, and has been a 5th grade teacher since 2008.  He and his wife (a high school history teacher) now live in Hercules with their daughter Esme (‘10) and her twin sisters, Maya and Juno (‘12).  He enjoys weightlifting, painting, everything and anything comic book related, and camping with his family.
