Born and raised just outside of Los Angeles, Jo Ann misses Southern California’s warm summer evenings. Otherwise, she greatly appreciates the natural beauty of the Bay Area and loves living here.
Jo Ann taught in Oakland and San Leandro for 14 years prior to coming to Jefferson in 2015. She loves teaching 2nd and 3rd graders and is passionate about her students’ whole (social/emotional/academic) lives. She hopes to help them develop into reflective, engaged, and kind people.
Before teaching, Jo Ann worked as a children’s rights attorney where she worked on issues related to poverty. She attended UC Santa Cruz as an undergrad and graduated from Stanford Law School. In her time away from school, Jo Ann loves hiking, bicycling, being with loved ones, and eating yummy, savory foods.
